Minutes approved April 2, 2009.
Meeting was called to order at 6:29pm by Ken May.
MINUTES: The minutes were read for the Feb. 5th meeting. Ray Williams moved and
Jane Tiffen seconded the motion that the minutes be accepted as read.
Motion passed.
PERSONNEL: The question was asked by Ken May if the responding auxiliary should be
changed to limited duty fire fighters. Only one responding auxiliary
member was interested in possibly making the change. The limited duty
firefighters would not be on the front line actively fighting fires but
would be used on pumps, traffic control and driving trucks.
EQUIPMENT: Three GPS units have now been installed in Brush 1, Brush 2 and Engine 2.
They are ready for use. It was noted that they do not drain the trucks'
batteries.
Brush 2 is fully in service. It will be used as a first responding
truck on all wildland fires. Brush 1 will follow with more personnel
if needed.
The longer antennas for the 800 mhz radios have arrived and
will be installed.
Kate passed out the new IDs and it was noted that Bob Nauroth, Helen
Bowlin, and Sherry A. still need IDs. Marian will be asked to make
these.
New Rosters were handed out.
COMMUNICATIONS: Jody agreed to check with Collins Communication to see if the tones on
the pagers can be changed. Marian can change the pitch but not the
volume.
TRAINING: Alex reported that a class on fire fighting would be held in FC in
April from the 13th to the 17th, 8 am to 5 pm. Ken is planning to go
if he can. Others are encouraged to attend.
Ken reported that RFL would like another ice rescue training before the
ice melts. He is not sure when but they will page everyone. Reports are
coming in that the ice is very thin and open water visible.
Sunday March 8th, Livermore will burn a house to test a new fire
extinguishing device. Ken will attend with 6 other members. They plan
to carpool and will leave at noon. Bunker gear will be needed. Doug B
will drive.
SAFETY: Jody noted that 7 people need the Hepatitis B vaccine. They can be
obtained at 1525 Blue Spruce Drive in Fort Collins on any Monday morning, 9am -
12pm or afternoon 1:00 – 3:30, or Friday afternoon 1 – 3:30. It is a
walk-in clinic but you must pay at time of injection. Either obtain a check
from Sherry in advance or pay and be reimbursed.
Doug B added an addenda to Deputy Fawcett's recent training, stating that more violence, in domestic
disturbance cases, occurs in the kitchen or bedroom. Avoid those area
as much as possible if on such an incident.
FIREWISE: Jody has the complete Firewise plan notebook available.
It is almost complete except for identifying safety zones. It can be
viewed in her office.
AUXILIARY: Sherry reported that the auxiliary has $3617.81 in the checkbook. $1500 of this is kept aside for emergencies.
MISCELLANEOUS: The last incident was discussed. It was noted that some CL members are
very fragile. Some have reported to the office that they have special
needs and might need CLVFD help at some time in the future.
Doug Blunt, Janet and Mike Shrodt received their ice rescue
certificates and badges.
Saturday morning, March 7th will be a fire station cleaning and repair
day. 11-12 people indicated that they would help. (On March 5 the
following people worked: Sherry and Harold Alexander, Jane and Jim Tiffin, Janet and Mike Schrodt,
Ray and Jeanette Williams, Herb and Sharon Cooper, Kate Kelly, Ken May, and Doug Blunt.)
Sherry suggested that a list of fire station needs be put together with
priorities. Then further work days can be scheduled.
Jody reported that the chimney fire incident address was missing from
our cross reference directory. Please insert 3806 Ottawa Way, 12044, in
your cross reference list. This address along with other missing
addresses of the CL shop and W&S building will be printed and
attached to the list as a supplement.
Inventory lists are due. Please turn them in ASAP.
Tom Paterson moved and Renee seconded a motion to adjourn. Motion
passed.
Respectfully submitted,
Kate Kelly, Secretary
