Minutes
approved January 7, 2010.
The meeting was called to order by Marian Kelly at 6:31 pm.
MINUTES: Kate
Kelly read the minutes from the November meeting. Sherry Alexander
moved and John Lang seconded the motion to accept the minutes as read.
Motion passed.
Marian reminded everyone that the cold weather was
really here and to
take a few minutes to dress very warm before responding to a call. Wear
ski pants and several layers.
Jody noted that the pension board term
may be different than reported in the last minutes. She requested
Marian check on that.
PERSONNEL: Helen
Bowlin reported that Rick Bowlin wished to join the department as
Responding Auxiliary. Kate moved and Jane Tiffin seconded the motion
that Rick be accepted as a probationary member. Motion passed.
John
Lang reported that he has contacted several CL residents who are
interested in joining the department. He told them to attend a meeting.
Jody asked everyone for their Christmas plans so
that we will know who
is available for calls.
EQUIPMENT:
Helen Bowlin will arrive at the Christmas Party at 5pm with
her sewing
machine ready to sew badges on jackets. Jim Tiffin reported that there
will be finger food and an open bar at that time.
Squad 1 is at Becks for maintenance. Brush 1 was
taken to Becks by Doug
Blunt and returned by the Coopers. Doug reported that Brush 1 should
always have the wheel chocks in place when in use. Brush 2 is scheduled
to go to Becks on Thursday. Doug and Mike will take care of it. Doug
has taken care of dechaining and rechaining vehicles for maintenance
but would like help. John will assist Doug.
Jim Tiffin’s hat was found at the
dumpster and returned to Marian who
gave it to Jim.
Doug suggested that Engine 3 be stripped of all
useable gear, as it
will not be used. Marian will again suggest to the Fire Board that this
truck be sold. John and Doug and anyone else should strip the truck
when time permits.
PERSONNEL
REVISITED: Ballots for the election of
officers were handed out. Doug and Shirla
Race, probationary members, collected them and tallied the votes. The
vote went as follows:
Marian Kelly -- Chief
John Lang -- First Assistant Chief
Doug Blunt -- Seconded Assistant Chief
Helen Bowlin -- Secretary
Herb Cooper -- Auxiliary Head
Marian will take this roster of officers to the
Fire Board meeting for
approval.
COMMUNICATIONS:
None.
TRAINING: Renee
Paterson suggested that the Thursday training be canceled and the
department members attend the School Board Meeting enmass to encourage
them to keep RF Elementary open. Marian suggested rescheduling training
instead of canceling it.
Jody Sandquist moved and Jane Tiffin seconded the
motion to reschedule
the December 10th training to December 11 and the department members
attend the School Board meeting wearing their blue CLVFD jackets.
Motion passed. Marian will contact RFLVFD about attending wearing their
jackets. It was decided to take Brush 1 as well but park it where it
can leave easily in an emergency. Fire Training will be held Dec. 11 in
the Wapiti room and Responding Auxiliary are encouraged to
attend.
CLVFD now has 6 First Responders. Marian has
received two First
Responder medical kits, which are currently in Marian's and Kate's
cars. Six more are on order. Jody has the AED, which she will carry
unless she is out of town, then she will pass it on to Marian. All
First Responders should attend the EMS training at Red Feather on the
fourth Tuesday of each month to retain their certification.
SAFETY: Jody again reminded everyone
to dress warm for all calls and to carry
water from the house as water in cars will be frozen now. Cuna is very
slippery during the winter as are many other roads, so please drive
carefully and slow down. YakTracs are strongly suggested for everyone's
safety.
Rosters need to be updated and Emergency Services
needs to be informed
of the new rosters.
Jody reported that tests may be needed to see if
the Hep B shot was
effective. Marian will call the Health Department to check if tests
need to be made. She will also check if the Red Feather Clinic can run
the checks. TB tests were also recommended yearly.
FIREWISE: A
radio on the Osage siren was malfunctioning and has been repaired. If
you hear a funny beeping noise on Channel 2, please report it to the
Association office, as it may be a siren reporting a malfunction.
The slash pile was successfully burned in November. A big thank you to
those who could attend the burn on short notice. Checks were handed out
to those who worked. The CL association contracts with the fire
department to burn this slash, thus the payments.
Jody requested to know who needed Cross Reference address lists -
she'll get them to the Schrodts, Races
and Bowlins.
Jody will submit the new street names to Garmin so the GPS machines can
be updated.
AUXILIARY: Sherry
reported that the bank account now stands at $7614.17. Alex has
ordered larger light bars, emergency signs, cones and new vests for the
traffic control workers. Kate reported that the shirts for the
Christmas party went over the $350 allotted by $28. Consensus of
members okayed the overrun.
Marian mentioned that the R&R Board,
W&S Board, and the Community Fund met with the Fire Board
concerning
a joint project of a Community Center Building. Funds are being
requested to pay a lawyer to check into joint ownership laws. Consensus
of the members was to wait until further information is obtained before
committing funds.
MISCELLANEOUS: The Christmas
party was
discussed. Helen Bowlin will arrive at the party with sewing machine at
5 pm to sew on member patches. All old year pins should be brought to
the party so that everyone can receive updated year pins. Helen has
flag patches.
Marian handed out red light permit forms and JC Penny coupons.
Renee moved and Jim Tiffin seconded the motion to adjourn. Motion
passed and the meeting adjourned at 8:03 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
